Choose removable holders
The easiest holder lets you lift the plant out, water it separately, dry it fully, and return it without damage. Removable displays are especially helpful for beginners.
Use open materials
Wire, cork bark, driftwood, ceramic dishes, and breathable wall mounts can work well when they do not squeeze the base. The plant should have room for air to move around it.
Be careful with glass
Glass globes can look clean, but they often reduce airflow. Use open glass only and return the plant after it is dry.
Avoid wet filler
Moss, sand, shells, and stones should be decorative, not a damp planting medium around the plant base. Damp filler is one of the easiest display mistakes to miss.
Match holder to plant shape
Bulbous or tightly curled plants need holders that leave the base open and visible. Flatter rosette plants are usually easier to place in shallow dishes or open stands.
Think about placement
A holder that only works on a dark shelf is not a good long-term choice. Choose displays that can live near bright indirect light or under a grow light.
Keep cleaning simple
Dust, mineral residue, and old leaves collect around displays. Holders that are easy to wipe or rinse make regular care less fussy.
Avoid permanent traps
If you glue or wedge the plant into a holder, watering and drying become harder. Secure does not need to mean sealed in place.
