Choose clean dry wood
Use clean, dry driftwood without residues, salt, or treatments that may harm the plant. If the wood came from outdoors, clean and dry it thoroughly before use.
Keep the base open
Do not bury the base in glue, moss, or wet material. The plant should sit securely but still have airflow around the crown and base.
Plan the watering routine
If the plant is attached permanently, make sure you can still rinse or soak it and dry the whole display thoroughly. A removable plant is easier for beginners.
Place it in bright light
Driftwood displays often sit on shelves. Keep them near enough to bright indirect light for the plant to grow, not just where the arrangement looks good.
Use gentle attachment
Wire, loose placement, or minimal plant-safe adhesive can work when used carefully. Avoid crushing leaf bases or covering the growing center.
Watch the mount after watering
Wood can hold surface moisture in grooves. If the mount stays damp for hours, water the plant separately or improve airflow around the display.
Keep the display inspectable
Arrange the plant so you can see the base and remove debris. Driftwood can hide loose leaves or damp pockets if the plant is wedged too tightly.
Refresh the setup
Over time, dust and mineral residue can collect on both plant and wood. Clean the display gently and reset the plant if the mount starts making care harder.
